About Us

Montgomery Nurseries was originally established by John Gardner Sr. in 1892 on Montgomery Ave. in the heart of Bryn Mawr. By 1904 it became clear that this location was not large enough for the growing company and the company moved it's entire operation a few miles down the road to the corner of Darby and Marple Rd. When completed this location included a house, living quarters for the crew, greenhouses, barn for the horses, growing fields, a sales yard and several cold frames and sheds.

In the mid 40's the Bryn Mawr Nursery was purchased strictly as a growing location of hardy trees and shrubs for sale or landscape installation at our nearby Darby and Marple nursery.  Due to the growth of our company and the need for more space our selling and landscape operations were moved to the Bryn Mawr location in the late 1960's.

Over the years we have expanded our nursery and our ever growing customers include local residents, business, townships, school districts and contractors. We are proud to be in Bryn Mawr, in Radnor township and we would liked to thank all our loyal customers for making this location possible.
